CHAPEL HILL- The ninth-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels were fresh off a big win over Maryland in the ACC/B1G Challenge and could ill-afford a let-down against a good Davidson team on Sunday afternoon.
Nate Britt’s 17 points led the way for the Tar Heels, who scored the first ten points of the game and never looked back en route to a 98-65 victory.
Here’s Coach Roy Williams after the win:
North Carolina controlled the game from start to finish and kept Davidson’s Jack Gibbs in check, for the most part. Gibbs scored 41 against Charlotte in front of Steph Curry this week, but only finished with 19 on the night.
Marcus Paige added 13 points and dished out four assists for the Tar Heels who improved to 7-1 in front of almost 15,000 fans at the Dean Dome Sunday night.
North Carolina’s next game is at Texas on December 12th.
Other than Purdue, I’ve had the opportunity to cover games at Kentucky, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Illinois, but the reception at the University of North Carolina was second to none.
On behalf of Deep Dish Sports, I’d like to thank the University of North Carolina for the hospitality.
