Purdue Tramples Howard, 93-55

The 11th-ranked Boilers hosted the Howard Bison Wednesday night at Mackey Arena and it didn’t go well for the visitors.

Howard was without the nation’s leading scorer and the Boilermakers senior Captain, Rapheal Davis returned to action after being sidelined for 4 games with a MCL sprain.

Purdue trampled Howard 93-55  behind Caleb “Biggie” Swanigan, who racked up 19 points and 12 rebounds. Swanigan looked stellar with arguably his best offensive performance in a Purdue jersey.

Howard was short-handed from the start, as they were forced to sit James Daniel III due to a toe injury. Daniel is the nation’s leading scorer, averaging over 28 points per game. The lack of a major scoring threat showed early as they only put up 24 first half points.

Rapheal Davis contributed 10 points and 2 assists, in a solid comeback game coming off his recent injury. Davis commented on his knee in the post-game press conference saying, “I felt well, it’s been feeling well for a few days now.”

Purdue moves to 10-0  and will take aim at Youngstown State on Saturday.

On behalf of Deep Dish Sports, I would like to thank the Purdue Athletic Department for welcoming us into Mackey Arena to cover the game.
