#15 Purdue takes on Nebraska tonight in Lincoln at 8 p.m. and will be televised on the Big Ten Network. Purdue (22-7, 10-6) is coming off a big win at home on Saturday over then #10 Maryland 83-79 while Nebraska (14-15, 6-10) last played on the road at Penn State where they lost a close one 56-55.
This will be Purdue’s return trip to Nebraska after the two teams met in West Lafayette on January 30th, a game Purdue won 89-74. That was a game dominated by A.J. Hammons who had a career night. He had a double-double posting 32 points and 11 rebounds to go with five assists and four blocks. Purdue also shot a season high 58.3% (7-12) from the three-point line.
Purdue needs to be able to contain Shavon Shields (16 ppg) and Andrew White III (17.1 ppg) in this game. In the first meeting, Shields was able to put up 16 points, but only played 23 minutes because of foul trouble. White had 18 points in the first meeting, but the rest of the starters combined for just 18 points.
These last two games are big for Purdue as they get closer to the tournament. They could still get a double bye in the Big Ten Tournament if they win tonight and on Sunday night against Wisconsin. Winning on the road is never easy and Nebraska is no exception.
We should be in for a good, hard-fought game.
