Four Big Ten Teams in Preseason AP Top 25

Ohio State, Michigan in Top 10

The 2016 Preseason AP Top 25 poll was released today and the Big Ten has four teams on the list.

Ohio State was the first unanimous preseason number one in the history of the AP Top 25 last year, and the Buckeyes come in at number six this year.

Head Coach Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes need to replace 16 starters from last year’s squad including two, top-five selections in the 2016 NFL Draft, Joey Bosa and Ezekiel Elliot.

Quarterback J.T. Barrett must have an outstanding year behind center for the Buckeyes to live up to the rankings.

Michigan comes in one spot below Ohio State at number seven as the Wolverines are searching for their first Big Ten Championship since 2004 behind second-year head coach, Jim Harbaugh.

The Wolverines feature one of the best defenses in the country and will change things up under new defensive coordinator Don Brown.

Jabril Peppers and Jordan Lewis lead the way and the 2015 team leader in sacks and tackles, Chris Wormley, returns as well.

Michigan’s defense also boasts the top overall high school player in the nation from 2015, Rashan Gary.

Harbaugh and the Wolverines have high expectations for 2016.

Michigan State lost quarterback Connor Cook, OT Jack Conklin, DE Shilique Calhoun, WR Aaron Burbridge and OG Donavan Clark, but Sparty is ranked in the top 15 at number 12.

Mark Dantonio’s team went 12-2 last year and will need major contributions from linebackers Riley Bullough and Jon Reschke.

Dantonio is the only coach in Big Ten history to win 11-or-more games five times in six years, will he make it six out of seven?

Kirk Ferentz enters his 18th season at Iowa with two goals: reshaping his team and reaching a bowl game.

Quarterback CJ Beathard and DB Desmond King return to an Iowa Hawkeye team that lost to Michigan State in the 2015 Big Ten Championship game.

The Hawkeye defense looks strong, but can they replace the production of star running back Jordan Canzeri?
